You can now register for upcoming HEAL events online! Signup Continues for School-Home Connections and GF/CF Baking with Pat
 School is back in session, and for the parent of a child on the autism spectrum, the transition into a new school classroom can bring great stress. In an attempt to help parents and educators through this transition, HEAL is offering a seminar entitled, "School-Home Connections; Strategies for Creating Positive, Child-Centered Relationships", on Saturday October 25th from 9-11am at the TPC Media Center at Sawgrass, in Ponte Vedra. Tickets are a $10 donation per person.
This presentation will be of great benefit to parents, care takers, teachers, therapists and school administration.
 Join HEAL on November 8th for a gluten-casein free cooking class featuring local cookbook Click here to register with PayPal.author, Pat Buckley. The class will be held at 1pm at the Players Community Senior Center, 175 Landrum Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach. This class is helpful for anyone trying out, or sticking to the GF/CF diet. Pat will be giving a cooking demonstration and be available for questions about nutrition and shopping for a gluten-casein free lifestyle.

Dr. Julie Buckley will be presenting at the National Autism Conference in Ft. Lauderdale November 13-17
 HEAL Co-Founder and nationally recognized Defeat Autism Now! Pediatrician, Dr. Julie Buckley, will be a speaker at the National Autism Conference in Ft. Lauderdale this November. Don't miss Dr. Buckley's speech regarding bio-medical intervention for individuals on the spectrum. In addition to special guest keynote speaker, Congressman Dave Weldon, the conference lineup includes the country's leading experts on Autism - Andy Wakefield, Doreen Granpeesheh, Jeff Bradstreet, Dan Rossignol, John Partington and Anju Usman, just to name a few.
The conference covers biomedical therapies, dietary intervention, behavioral therapies, maintaining a healthy marriage, child safety, a special workshop designed "Just For Dads", a full-day IEP workshop that no parent should miss, and much more!
It is not too late to register. The National Autism Association is offering discounts to parents in need.

Kirkman labs is offering parents the opportunity to attend for free in return for volunteering. Each Mom or Dad will receive free admission for the day they are on duty and a $50 Kirkman Gift Certificate for that day. They will also give parents a Kirkman Mom or Dad Tee-Shirt to wear while on duty. They will be able to attend all the speakers they want to as long as they are helping at the booth in between them.

Barefoot Spa to host a HEAL fundraiser on November 22nd

Supporters who donate $100 will attend an open house, receive a half hour reflexology service, and meet with Dr. Martinez, an acupuncturist with over 20 years of experience with Chinese medicine. Support North Florida School by decorating your home for the holidays!
The students of North Florida School of Special Education are offering wonderful Holiday Greenery fresh from Minnesota. The money that is raised will be designated for scholarships for students that need financial assistance. North Florida School of Special Education has changed the academic, social and vocational lives of Jacksonville's children with developmental disabilities for the past 15 years and are a recipient of a HEAL grant to help fund their arts program.
Greenery will be delivered to the school and available for pick-up first week in December. Attached is a list of greenery items and an order form. Please make your check out to "North Florida School PSO" and return the completed order form and your payment by October 22 to: North Florida School of Special Education, attn: Greenery Sale Chair, 223 Mill Creek Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211.

Jenny McCarthy's new book Mother Warriors: A Nation of Parents Healing Autism Against All Odds is in stores now.
