DOSA Summer Camps
DOSA camps allow over 300 children, teenagers, and adults with disabilities to participate in week long summer camps. Over one-third of the attendees are affected by ASD. This grant helps strengthen the education and awareness pillars of the HEAL Foundation.

Camp Cummer
Week long summer camp for children with ASD entering grades 1 through 8, taught by full-time Museum Educators with the support of volunteers. Activities include painting, drawing, printmaking, three-dimensional structures, papermaking, sculpting, and more. This camp meets the HEAL pillars of treatment and awareness.

Smile Camp 
Smile Camp provides children ages 5 to 11 with health challenges the possibility to experience the outdoors and create new friends without thinking about their disabilities. Through Smile Camp, Girl Scouts of Gateway Council promotes the education and awareness pillars of HEAL.

Music Therapy
Music is a well-researched form of therapy which provides individuals with ASD an effective, fun way to communicate.  Great Strides Music Therapist will provide up to 250 sessions for individuals or groups in a variety of settings.  The HEAL pillars of education, awareness, research, and treatment are met.

Equine Assisted Therapy
Haven Ranch, Inc provides Equine Assisted Therapy Treatment sessions and camps to children and adults with disabilities. They are a Licensed Therapeutic Riding Center and have been providing services since 1994. Over 68% of their clients are diagnosed with ASD and their programs have been published in Medical Journals. Children with ASD will be provided the opportunity to participate in equine therapy supporting the treatment, research, and education pillars of HEAL.

Birds' Nest
This seed money is to assist the building of a center for Autistic Children.  This comprehensive facility will offer support the treatment of autism for individuals and their families.

HEALing Autism Through Bowling
By funding the bowling program, HEAL will meet the awareness, education, and treatment pillars that are so important to our mission. Up to thirty children attend this weekly event. Therapists and educators are on hand to facilitate social interaction.

Junior Golf Camp
Junior Golf Camp provides children with ASD to learn about the game of golf at worldclass facilities. The camp takes place at the TPC Sawgrass and will follow the program created by a Master PGA Professional. The program supports the education, awareness, and treatment pillars of HEAL by providing structured activities that will strengthen social skills.

JSA Summer Camp
This camp will run for five weeks under the guidance and instruction of trained staff.  The camp is for children with ASD and their siblings.  This grant meets the awareness, treatment, and education pillars of the HEAL Foundation.

ArtTherapy
Individual art therapy sessions for children/adolescents with ASD.  The HEAL pillars of education, awareness, research, and treatment are met.

2012 Summer Camp
This camp will provide a more flexible and less intensive ABA program for children with ASD. Children will experience community outings and have the opportunity to learn age appropriate social skills while having fun in a structured environment. The HEAL pillars of education, awareness, and treatment are met through this camp.

Academic Road Camp
The May Institute’s Florida program provides residential services at nine houses in the community for individuals with disabilities, ages 13-51. This grant will allow individuals with ASD the opportunity to go on field trips which allow the participants the opportunity to go out in the community and learn a wide variety of skills under the supervision of highly trained staff. This program meets the HEAL pillars of education, prevention, treatment, and awareness.

Academic Road Camp for Adults
This grant will allow individuals with ASD the opportunity to go on field trips which allow the participants the opportunity to go out in the community and learn the skills of: job training and readiness, recreation, social skills, exercise, hygiene and meal preparation.  This program meets the HEAL pillars of education, prevention, treatment, and awareness.

2012 Summer Camp

Summer Sprouts Camp
This camp will provide an opportunity for children with ASD and other disabilities to interact while learning through and about horticulture.  The HEAL pillars of education, awareness, and treatment are met through this camp.

Fishing Instruction
This pilot program provides one-on-one fishing instruction and fun for 10 children with ASD.  Fishermen and educators facilitate instruction and social interaction. The HEAL pillars of awareness, education, and treatment pillars that are met.

Riding the Wave of Autism
Surf camp will take place this summer at Jacksonville Beach. It provides the opportunity for children with autism to participate in an activity that appears inaccessible. Children with ASD will be able to participate in surf camp which supports the education and treatment pillars of HEAL.

Summer Camps
The Performers Academy will provide three one week camps for individuals with ASD and peer volunteers.  “HEAL Goes Hollywood” is an acting and film camp run in conjunction with Horton Acting Studios.  “HEAL Through Building” allows campers the opportunity to create with Legos.  “Rock with HEAL” music camp is led by recording artist Dove Hagan and campers will learn the world of music performance. These camps hit HEAL’s awareness, treatment, and education pillars.

Technology Utilization for Children with Autism 
The Jericho School will provide quality ABA and a Verbal Behavior services for this community. The Jericho school wants to take advantage of the advances in technology such as iPad's to help children with Autism better communicate and acquire other desired skills.

Communication Station: Social Skills & Sensory supports 
The PV PV Rawlings grant will give children the opportunity to improve on their communication, social skills and life skills. The “Communication Station” is a learning center that includes learning activities that encourage communication in the form of 3-5 word statements that are socially based. The children will get to hangout in Rocker Chairs, which support a sensory need that is used to self-calm.

The Art and Soul Yoga After School Club 
The North Florida School of Special Education Art and Soul Yoga camp will give children the opportunity to express themselves through their creativity and also their body. Art therapy will provide a medium to self-expression for the children with limited to no verbal communication. They will have the opportunity to express themselves through: paint, clay and many more mediums. Soul Yoga helps improve breathing, flexibility and builds body awareness.

Parent Support Group 
The STAR Group is a parent driven support group for families with children with Autism and Developmental Disorders. Parents and families can connect, listen, and support one another through this group. All these meetings are free for parents whose children have Autism to attend. Free child care is available compliments of Little Star Center.

VE PreK Classrooms 
Students will participate in Speech, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy per his/her IEP. All students will participate in the Houghton Mifflin Pre-K Curriculum- aligned with key Pre-K learning goals, and providing students with the foundational skills needed to succeed as lifelong learners. The Second Step the students will learn is focused on social skills program designed to teach empathy, impulse control, problem solving and anger management through use of puppet scripts, sing along tapes, and modeling.

Special Needs Respite Care 
The Christ Church program offers respite worship time for families who have children with special needs. The Christ Church program strives to align with IEP and familial goals in attempt to further self-determination and independence of our Access Junction children, keeping them in a safe, nurturing, and sensory appropriate environment. The Christ Church also provides a volunteer leader who also works one-on-one with an ESOL student with ASD, after hours, so the family can attend English classes.

Peer to Pier Fishing Club 
The pilot program provides one-on-one fishing instruction and fun for those with Autism. Fishermen and educators facilitate instruction and social interaction. The HEAL pillars of awareness, education, and treatment pillars that are met.

Speech Language 
Jennifer Burton is a Speech-Language Pathologist who provides small group speech and language therapy services to children of various ages and learning levels in Prekindergarten through fifth grade. Many classrooms have computers, smart boards, and other newer technology for use to provide multi-dimensional and interactive academic instructions for their students.

JSA Piano Scholarship 
The Jacksonville School for Autism- JSA Piano scholarship will provide students with the chance to learn many skills other than just playing the piano. Predictable repetition provides a great learning tool for autistic children. Teach and interact with the children with music, rhythm, movement and and much more.

HEAL goes Hollywood 
“HEAL Goes Hollywood” is an acting and film camp run in conjunction with Horton Acting Studios. The “HEAL goes Hollywood”will provide children with the experience in writing, acting, and planning in singing and dancing. Includes experience in producing and starring in commercials, a short film, celebrity impersonations, and daily exercises on camera.

HEAL Through Movement 
HEAL through Movement is a fun fitness experience to help students rev it up and burn some energy! But also giving them the opportunity to relax and wind down at the end of the day! The students will be moving: tumbling, stretching, cardio, and yoga segments to help the mind and body.

Student Education Programs 
The Yulee education programs will teach our students to engage in purposeful leisure activities using the iPad such as reading audio and digitally-enhanced books, creating and playing music, making art, and navigation the Internet. The education program will enhance our student’s social functioning using video modeling Apps, Apps that teach emotion, and Apps that teach social rules. We use the Unique Curriculum to ensure students are making progress in obtaining Sunshine State Standards according to Florida Department of Education rules and regulations.

Exceptional Student Education Programs 
The Yulee schools will teach our students to engage in purposeful leisure activities using the IPad such as reading audio and digitally-enhanced books, creating and playing music, making art, and navigation the Internet. The Yulee School will enhance our student’s social functioning using video modeling Apps, Apps that teach emotion, and Apps that teach social rules. The Yulee Schools use the Unique Curriculum to ensure students are making progress in obtaining Sunshine State Standards according to Florida Department of Education rules and regulations.

Autism Unit – Glider Chairs 
Lakeside Junior High’s daily schedule includes life skills, vocational skills, and functional skills. The core subjects of math and reading are taught to the functional level of the students. Vocational training is vitally important to the curriculum. Students are taught to be independent throughout the day. Students also participate in some activities on the junior high campus, students go to regular education chorus class one a week. This gives them the opportunity to use social skills and also interacting with students in that chorus class. The Glider Chairs have a sensation of rocking or moving back and forth is very relaxing and has a calming effect. The chairs are therapeutic and are used as reinforces in the classroom.

Academic Enrichment 
Educational equipment and supplies for the school's learning centers; science, music, tactile learning and adaptive PE. 
The Keystone Behavioral Pediatrics are a dual functioning business with an outpatient behavioral pediatrics clinic and a private school for students with developmental disabilities.

Bowling Buddies 
HEALing Autism Through Bowling 
The Bowling Buddies camp will meet the awareness, education, and treatment pillars that are so important to our mission. Up to forty children attend this weekly event. Therapists and educators are on hand to facilitate social interaction. The children will get to bowl and grow together in a fun activity working on their social skills while having a fun time !
